Why?

I’ve started and stopped this entry a few times out of an abundance of caution. I want to be sober-minded in writing what will be the first of several entries exploring why I am fighting my battle with ALL.

As promised in a previous post, my question of why is not directed to God as a child shaking a fist. Rather, it is a thoughtful attempt to understand the reasons behind this journey so that I can maximize the learning opportunities and then share those lessons with others.

I’ve known for some time now that my life was out of balance. Treadmill at 4:30A and office by 5:50A to get home by 6:15P and then run through the evening routine and repeat it all the next day. I needed to slow down. I remember several months ago taking some time to pray at my desk and asking the Lord to intervene in a way that would force the change. My only request was that it not be suffering of anyone else in my family and that it spare my life. It was a big prayer.

I believe that my current fight is, in part, an answer to that prayer. God has certainly slowed down my schedule, re-prioritized by days, and gotten my head redirected toward a proper balance. With the world around me so consumed with getting back to work following COVID-19, I am still working on staying focused on hearing God’s voice and the lessons that He has for me in the still small voice amidst this fight.

At the risk of sounding redundant, I beseech each of you to take stock of your current priorities. I’m not referring to what you would note as your priorities if asked to write them down. Instead, what are your actual priorities? What are the priorities that you demonstrate by your actions?

Time in this life is terminal - terminal. You must live your best life. You only live it once.

”Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.” 1 Cor 9:24
