Here We Go!
It has been quite a while since I posted, nearly one month in fact. I hope that each of you are doing well and are enjoying Summer. June has been exactly what I needed.
I completed four weeks of the continuous Blincyto infusion. The fanny pack was a bit annoying at times. But, the outcome was worth every second because my last bone marrow biopsy came back “squeaky clean” according to my doctor.
Aside from the fanny pack, June was spent largely hanging out with family. God blessed us with tremendous weather making the deck a wonderful retreat. We grilled out regularly, celebrated Lanie’s April birthday that I missed, celebrated our three June birthdays, and enjoyed hours of sitting outside and chatting. And, a few COVID screened/cleared visitors came by as well.
Now, I’m readmitting for the next phase of this adventure. With the “all clear” from my doctor, I start total body irradiation on Monday. I’ll have two sessions each day for four days followed by my stem cell transplant on Friday July 3.
In complete transparency, I’m a bit nervous. But, I’m equally excited. The radiation comes with a lot of potential side effects making the first few weeks likely difficult. By God’s grace and the prayers of so many friends and family, I have tolerated everything extremely well thus far. Please continue to pray that the side effects are minimal and that I experience as little rejection as possible.
Also, over the next few weeks, I will likely have days that I’m not up to making a post. I’ll do my best to have something posted letting you know that I am ok. However, if there are days with no posts, just say an extra prayer and know that I’m winning the fight.
